A GUIDE from Peterborough has been chosen to represent the UK in the heart of global diplomatic circles in New York.
Pippa Gardner (20), of Lawn Avenue, in Dogsthorpe, and is a Girlguiding UK youth forum chair, is gearing up to fly across the Atlantic to speak about the status of women to world chiefs at the United Nations’ headquarters in New York.
She will form part of a 10-strong delegation of guiding members from across the globe travelling to the UN’s headquarters in New York City for the week-long Commission on the Status of Women summit.
The delegation has been co-ordinated by the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, and has recruited guiding members from across the world.
Pippa and the delegation will discuss gender equality and the advancement of women.
She said: “It’s a real opportunity to air the views of girls and young women in the UK with representatives from all UN member states expected to be in New York.
“It will be a fantastic experience and a real insight into international politics.”
